OHIO
CONCEALED CARRY
In Ohio, no permit is required to carry a concealed handgun so long as you are a qualified adult for a concealed handgun license.
OPEN CARRY
No permit is required to openly carry a firearm.
MOTOR VEHICLE CARRY
In Ohio, loaded handguns are lawful in your car or vehicle (no restrictions on where a handgun is placed inside a vehicle) so long as you are a qualified adult for a concealed handgun license.
For non-qualified adults all firearms must be carried unloaded, secured in a box, bag or case, with the ammunition in complete and separate enclosure.

NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT (NFA) FIREARMS
NFA items are legal in Ohio so long as they are registered properly pursuant to the National Firearms Act.
HUNTING
Deer hunting with a handgun is legal if the barrel length is a minimum of 5 inches, using .357 or larger straight-walled cartridges.
Ohio has varying laws regarding firearms and hunting, consult your local authorities.
FIREARM TRANSFERS & SALES
Handguns:
Must be 21 years of age to buy a handgun.
No registration or purchase permit is required.
To possess a handgun, there is no minimum age.
Long Guns:
Must be 18 years of age to buy a long gun.
No registration or purchase permit is required.
To possess a long gun, there is no minimum age.
No background check is required between private parties for the transfer of handguns and long guns.
AMMUNITION REGULATIONS
Ammunition is unregulated in Ohio.
