CONCEALED CARRY
In New Mexico, you can carry a concealed firearm in your car or vehicle.
A license to carry a concealed firearm is not required.
OPEN CARRY
No license is required for the open carry of a firearm.
MOTOR VEHICLE CARRY
In New Mexico, you can carry a concealed firearm in your car or vehicle.
The firearm is allowed to be loaded.
A CHL license to carry a concealed firearm is not required.
All the above also pertains to motorcycles and bicycles.
NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT (NFA) FIREARMS
NFA items are legal in New Mexico so long as they are registered with the federal government pursuant to the National Firearms Act.
HUNTING
Full metal jacket and tracer bullets are unlawful when hunting.
Suppressors (silencers) are lawful while hunting.
FIREARM TRANSFERS & SALES
In New Mexico, firearms are not required to be registered.
No license is required to buy a firearm.
There is no waiting period.
There is no background check required between private parties.
Must be 19 years of age to possess a handgun.
There is no age restriction on possessing a long gun.
The number of firearms purchased at one time is unlimited.
AMMUNITION REGULATIONS
No license is required to sell ammo in New Mexico.
Seller does not have to keep records of ammunition sales.
Armor-piercing ammo is lawful.
