FIREARM LAWS &REGULATIONS

ALASKA
CONCEALED CARRY

No permit is required in Alaska for concealed carry of a firearm (Permitless Carry).

OPEN CARRY

You can carry a firearm in Alaska openly, except in bars and in schools.
You must be 21 to do so.

MOTOR VEHICLE CARRY

You are allowed to have a weapon in your car in Alaska.

NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT (NFA) FIREARMS

Alaska hasn’t any restrictions on suppressors (silencers), machine guns, short barreled rifles or short barreled shotguns.

HUNTING

You may use a rifle, handgun or shotgun while hunting in Alaska.
When hunting small game, rimfire cartridges are allowed, with some restrictions.
Suppressors (silencers) are legal in Alaska while hunting.

FIREARM TRANSFERS & SALES

In Alaska, there is no permit needed to purchase a gun.
There is no firearm registration required in Alaska.
The number of firearms purchased is unlimited.
You cannot sell a firearm to anyone under 18 years old.
There is no waiting period.
There is no background check required for private parties for the sale of a firearm.

AMMUNITION REGULATIONS

Alaska has no restrictions on ammo sales, and no license is required.
You can still buy ammunition even if you are not allowed to possess a firearm.
Armor-piercing ammunition is not illegal on the Alaska state level.
